The Johnson Controls single duct low-height units along with all VAV family model types of Johnson Controls are manufactured and assembled with a patented multi-point, center-averaging, airflow sensor called the FlowStar sensor. The FlowStar sensor provides a signal to the Johnson Controls controller enabling it to quietly and precisely measure airflow. Superior flow measuring allows for control at lower minimum cubic-feet-per-minute (CFM) values, resulting in lower energy costs and sound levels.
